APU (Auxilary Power Unit) turboshaft engine powering a highly modified golf cart through a hydrostatic transmission. Aprox 50 hp through the trans to the wheels. 5 hp engine is used for starting rather than 2 large truck batteries. The hydrostatic transmission allows for instant forward and reverse changes, without any shifting, and nearly unlimited torque. Top speed was gearing limited to about 35 MPH at the golf course because the ground is so rough. This was a test run and will be followed soon by some high speed runs on flat pavement. Turbine engine was bought off of Ebay for $500 and used cart chassis was $100.
Powered by an APU (Auxilary Power Unit) engine from a KC135, driving a hydraulic transmission. Front disk brakes can line lock for a burnout, but the engine eats all the smoke!
Jet Turbine driven golf cart. Solar T 41 engine (shaft not thrust drive) matted to a hydrstatic transmission, which allows forward and reverse driving.
The engine has been changed to a T-41-M-9 and the hydraulic driveline got a brand new pump and motor. Top speed is not yet known as it's way too fast for the neighbors.
GolfJet engine on the test stand. The bearing carrier for the output shaft and the output shaft have been added, and 1" aluminum plate that will attach it to the golf cart itself. I've also added...
Maiden voyage of the turbine powered golf cart. Even though the cart was still a work in progress, I still got up to 37 mph and pulled away from my buddy driving the John Deere Gator chase vehicle.
Maiden voyage of the turbine golf cart. Although the cart was a work in progress, I did get up to 37 mph and pulled away from my buddy who had the John Deere Gator flat out.
