Last night many of us watched as fireworks lit up the sky around the area. And while they are fun to watch, fireworks can be very dangerous. This year was considered a very successful Independence Day for the Minot Rural Fire Department since they only responded to a few calls last night. A low fire danger warning helped make it an easy night for the fire department that only took a hand full of calls last night into this morning. Rod Tryhus, a fire prevention officer with the Minot Rural Fire Department said last night's festivals all ended safely. We did handle five calls from yesterday afternoon into last night.
