Italy's Mt Etna Erupts

Mt. Etna, on the Italian island of Sicily, erupted late Tuesday, spewing lava nearly 1,000 feet into the air and blowing ash more than a mile away. (Sept. 6)

One of Europe's most active volcanoes, Mount Etna, has put on a spectacular show in Italy.

May 7: Streams of lava shoot more than 600 feet into the air as Italy's Mount Etna erupts again. It was the volcano's third eruption in 22 days.

Here is some raw footage from last night on the Sicilian coast, where explosions and jumping lava lit up the slopes of Italy's Etna volcano. The volcano became active last month.
